Paula Foley Tillen has been a professional musician in the Milwaukee, Wisconsin area for the past thirty-six years. She has acted as music director for many metropolitan area theatre companies, and is active at Milwaukee ComedySportz, where she performs and leads workshops in musical improvisation; she is also a lead teacher of voice and musical theatre at First Stage Theatre Academy. Paula is director of music at Southminster Presbyterian Church in Waukesha, and director of the Carroll University Women’s Choir and Handbell Choir. In addition, she remains much in demand as a musical director, pianist, vocal coach, and accompanist. From 1998-2013 she was a founding member and composer-in-residence of the only professional women’s vocal ensemble in the Midwest, the Milwaukee Choral Artists.
Paula has co-written and composed for two original theatre pieces that have been produced by Milwaukee’s Windfall Theatre. Her arrangements and compositions are found in the catalogues of Treble Clef Music Press, Santa Barbara Music Publishing, Alliance Music Publications, and Hal Leonard Publishing, and have been performed by the Waukesha Choral Union, University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Chorale, University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Women’s Chorus, Mastersingers of Milwaukee, Milwaukee Choral Artists, Wisconsin Cream City Chorus, Choir of the Cathedral of St John the Evangelist (Milwaukee), as well as the 2014 Wisconsin State Honors Women’s Choir, 2013 Texas Music Educators’ Association All-State Women’s Choir, 2012 Vermont ACDA Women’s Honors Choir, the 2008 North Central ACDA Women’s Honors Choir, 2007 Michigan All-State Treble Choir, Twin Cities (MN) Women’s Choir, New Classic Singers (Chicago, IL), Manitou Singers (St. Olaf College, Northfield, MN), Concentus Women’s Choir (Rochester, NY), Cantala (Lawrence University, Appleton, WI), Voci Women’s Vocal Ensemble (Berkeley, CA), the Lyric Singers of Calvin College (Grand Rapids, MI), Women’s Voices Chorus (Chapel Hill, NC) and many others, as well as featured at the 2004 GALA International Festival (Montreal, Canada). She was winner of the 2008 Joe Shepley Choral Composition Competition (Namasté Women’s Choir, Los Angeles, CA).
